Yoon Eun Hye’s Priceless Bus Ride

Yesterday (12/4/11), actress Yoon Eun Hye made a tweet that led to much criticism from netizens.

On her Twitter page, Yoon Eun Hye posted a photo (below) of herself standing in front of the bus stop. With this photo, she wrote:
“Today I had a priceless experience. For the first time in almost 10 years, I used public transportation. Thanks to my manager’s half-pressuring (?), I got on the bus to go to the book store. My manager seemed way too excited – constantly taking pictures and all – which made everything even more embarrassing for me. Ugh I can’t live like this. But what is this strange heart-fluttering feeling that I’m getting?”

Yoon Eun Hye’s post angered numerous netizens, who responded:
“So you took the bus to go to the book store. How is that a priceless experience?”
“This almost sounds degrading. You should have put more thoughts into what you wrote.”
“Is she bragging [about not having to use public transportation]?”

On the other hand, some netizens reacted in Yoon Eun Hye’s defense, by explaining:
“Since Yoon Eun Hye was a celebrity since her youth, she didn’t have many opportunities to use public transportation. It’s kind of sad to hear that she finds such common experience to be priceless.”
“Of course celebrities never use public transportation. It’s not like she wrote anything bad.”
